Boom is a new soda brand looking to appeal to a youthful or young-at-heart demographic. To appeal to a youthful consumer, the packaging needed to convey excitement as it can be exceedingly hard in a health-conscious society to sell people sugary drinks. This is why popular culture is key, in making marketing “pop” to a new generation.
Recent cinema trends have shown that the comic book genre is popular with people of all ages and backgrounds. Using one genre as a sales vector for another is a natural move. The comic book genre would definitely attract younger people and combines this popular style with 90’s New Wave colour schemes.
